Vivek Desai is an award winning young photographer hailing from Ahmedabad. He has a passion for clicking photograph of life — the way it is lived by the people in their natural habitat... Kutch, a region in Gujarat is Vivek’s first love and these photographs were handpicked from thousands of images of Kutch from his collection.
Printing fine details on textured paper... using 10m stochastic screen... reproduce cast-less gray-scale photographs... bring out the same colors captured by the photographer... were few of the challenges that we faced while working on this project. The Favini Vivid paper was profiled first by printing targets and measuring them with spectrophotometer. Special TVI curves were made in Harmony to match the dot-gain deviations.
As it always happens in photographer’s projects, there were no color corrections allowed. You may find it amazing, but all these photographs are full frame — from edge to edge, not a single mm of cropping is done. They are reproduced ‘as shot’.
This is an in-house design, the outer of the portfolio is interlocked to give a pattern similar to that of an aperture of a camera... We were especially trilled when noted lens-man Raghu Rai complimented Vivek on the production.
