This is a monthly periodical published by a small sect Swaminarayan followers from a small town of ‘Kundal’ in Gujarat. This being a special issue, they wanted something extra in it without increasing the cost exponentially.
The solutions we suggested:
• |
10m stochastic screen for almost continuous tone photographs. 10m stochastic screen allows maximum data in the original photograph to ‘pass through’ the printing process on to the paper and makes the printing life-like. |
• |
Two special colors: Offset metallic Silver and Hexachrome Orange used as process colors along with standard CMYK. Using both silver and orange in photographs, one can see their dramatic effect on various pages like, 5, 6, 12, 13, 16, 17, poster pull-out on center-spread, 29-30 etc. The separations were made in Photoshop mainly using channel mixer and other tools without the help of any specialized mixing software. Silver in combination with other colors is used freely in the magazine at various places giving so many different metallic colors . |
• |
Concept of double title with matching gate-fold was introduced to make the title more dramatic. Center-spread poster was suggested as a pullout. |
The raw material in terms of rough pagination, uncorrected images, and a ‘time-bomb’ of posting date was received. Final art-working, along with separations, color corrections, six color printing with online coating and binding was done in-house within the impossible time-frame. |
