Shrinathji Portfolio (Archer)

Another masterpiece from Archer’s collection. Anil Relia brings out these rare gems from his treasurechest. These devotional paintings of Shrinathji painted by artists of 18th, 19th and 20th century.

Here, as it is mandatory in these kind of jobs, we had to follow the original colors as truthfully as we could within the constrains of the technology. Eventhough, the paintings were very old, the colors were not dull by any means. And specially the face of Shrinathji which is traditionally painted with a typical hue of blue. We worked very hard to truthfully reproduce all the colors by converting RGB in our CMYK space after rendering colors on the gamut boundary and beyond to a printable color.

All care is taken in making the plates and maintaining press in laboratory condition to reproduce true colors. This is a a case where the power of 10m stochastic screen is demonstrated. Very subtle color differences in the original paintings are maintained in the prints also. The blends show more stems and are smoother. The minutest details are also captured and come out well in the prints. Notice how many distinct shades of green are reproduced with fine detail in plate VIII titled ‘Love Play’!
